Hey guys I recently ran the disk error checker on my pc. The next day when I wanted to login to windows it just loads and goes to a black screen. I can see my mouse pointer. I could not access ctr+alt+del either. My pc can login in safe mode. I tried uninstalling anything recently installed, ran an avast anti-virus scan as well as a superanitspyware scan but nothing stood out. I ran ccleaner and combofix also with no luck. I tried uninstalling my display drivers, which only seemed to let me access my task manager during my black screen. Any suggestions?

Which version of Windows is this?
Open up the task manager and select file-> new task->explorer. See if your desktop then appears, if it does, Please post back asap. I've come across this and its something you need to fix in the registry - if its the same sort of error that I ran into though :)

Have you tried doing a system restore? You should be able to do this from safe mode. On the other hand this was posted a month ago so I'm guessing that you've found help elsewhere or formatted and reloaded. Doesn't sound like a virus or spyware. Sounds more like a registry issue to me.
