Hey christo thanx so much :) yeah my HD is VERY OLD infact the oldest component in my case other than my keyboard (not in my case) xD..
i downloaded the full installer and was lil confused as there where about 100 zip files? with names like "Apr2005_d3dx9_25_x86" etc so im not really sure what to do with each 1
and additionally i downloaded the smaller installer when i run the exe (dxwebsetup) i accept the agreements etc
then it initializes then i get the error "setup could not download the file. please try again later or check network connections"
my internet is working fine...?

That's perculiar it didn't work?
Zip the file before attaching as TXT files may contain unwanted scripting or malicious code. ;)
