  Hi I'm trying to find out whether its worth upgrading my Dell Precision 390 processor to the Q8300 or not?
  
  I've tried searching Tom's hardware for a direct comparison, but no joy. I realize this is stretching the viability of my machine, but spending R20K on a new workstation right now is not an option. Even if I can squeeze 15 - 20% will be OK.

  Cool, so I've ordered the upgrade.
  What suggestions does anyone have as to benchmarks I should run before and after?
  I am in a CAD environment, running XP 64, using Autodesk Inventor, 8 Gig RAM
