Hey guys,
strange problem my side. After a while (around 30 mins) my wireless KB and mouse stop responding. Often (but not always) at the same time my wireless receiver which is also USB starts disconnecting and trying to reconnect to my network, only to have to keep disconnecting and resetting all the time.
Is there some kind of file monitoring program I can use to see what's happening with the USB? The only way to fix it is to reset to PC, or pull it out and put it back in again?
More. Info. Needed.
Model names (and numbers) of USB devices, relevant computer hardware details, operating system version. Additionally, when did this start (has it always been this way), etc, etc.
The more info you give us, the easier it is to diagnose the problem and hopefully find a solution ;)
Sure thing:
Wireless KB & Mouse are M$ wireless KB 700 v2.0
Wireless adapter is Trendnet TEW 424UB
OS is Windows 7 32 bit RC - Evaluation Copy. Build 7100
Mobo is Gigabyte GA N650SLI
Problem has been here for the last 3/4 days. Dunno what changed that caused it. At first I thought it was because of the CPU processing like mad but I don't have any issues with a cabled mouse?
Just a shot in the dark here, but maybe some other device's signal is interfering with yours? Do you have any other wireless stuff that you got recently?
It's a good question actually. What I am going to do is swap it out and use it on my laptop or gaming rig to see what happens. I'm pretty certain it's the PC tho given that the wireless receiver also goes haywire.
I'm quite keen to actually do a full format, sort out my HDD partitions etc and do it all again from ground up (also because I want to get my media centre working). Then I'll go for a dual boot too and try myth TV as well.
Help me please. This is CRIPPLING me, max use for 2 second bursts before dying for 5. Mouse moves inches at a time!
Ok, back up to the top PC now.
This is so dam strange, the KY and Mouse work perfectly on my laptop whilst being in exactly the same position and everything, so it must be something to do with the PC.
When plugging in a normal cabled mouse I do not have the same challenges at all.
At least you have a workaround for this issue so long. No-one has even seriously attempted to help out with my Win7 threads, and someone even moaned about the amount of them! *cough*HAWK*cough*
It looks like it's going to be a case of me having to hunt down the answers myself and post the results here - when I have time.
Have you considered whether you want to do the full format you mentioned? If that doesn't solve the problem... then its obviously hardware. Perhaps your wireless receiver on your PC has suffered a malfunction? Does it come with diagnostic software?
I know what you mean, I typically post help requests here on PCD as a last resort as they almost never get any resolution.
I am giving serious consideration to doing the crazy format. Just don't have the time to do it I am afraid!
Morgue I'm sorry that we disappoint so bad but this week's been crazy. Christo's not at work and I've been a bit busy. Will see what I can do for you on monday.
