250,000 miles more Street View coverage

Google Maps has been around for quite a few years and one of the most significant additions to the service was Street View coverage. Street View shows people looking at the maps exactly what you would see as you drive down the road in question.

However, one of the biggest catches with Street View is that imagery isn't available in many locations.

To combat this, Google has announced that it has added a huge amount of new Street View data to Google Maps with the most comprehensive update ever made to the offering. Google says that it added over 250,000 miles of roads around the world to its Street View coverage area.

Specifically the new Street View coverage includes roads in Macau, Singapore, Sweden, the U.S., Thailand, Taiwan, Italy, Great Britain, Denmark, Norway and Canada. Google is also launching special collections in South Africa, Japan, Spain, France, Brazil and Mexico among other locations.

Street View is more than just what you see driving down a particular road. The service also offers imagery of landmarks such as Elsinore Castle in Denmark and many other places. Street View imagery is also available for sites in Russia such as Catherine Palace and the Ferapontov monastery. A number of other tourist attractions and parts are available to explore using Street View. Google also promises more Street view updates in the future.

The new Street View content should be available for iOS users via Safari.

Logitech is close to releasing a new illuminated keyboard that will allow you to connect multiple devices to it.

Logitech is close to releasing a new illuminated keyboard that will allow you to connect multiple devices to it.

The Logitech Bluetooth Illuminated Keyboard K810 is an upcoming addition to the PC accessory company's keyboard lineup. It allows consumers to connect their smartphone, tablet or PC to it all at one time, and switch between each device with the push of a button.

What's better is that it's compatible with Windows, iOS and Android devices. It's even set up for Windows 8, which will be released on October 26. For instance, consumers can use the keyboard's Windows 8 Start key to make their way back to the Start screen, or the App Switching function helps switch between applications much easier.

The Bluetooth Illuminated Keyboard K810 is thin and USB rechargeable, meaning consumers can use the keyboard even when it's charging via the USB cable. It also has an On/Off switch, a battery indicator light and auto-adjusting illumination. According to Logitech, the keyboard has proximity detection that turns on the lighting when a user's hands are aproaching it, and it dims/brightens depending on the amount of light in the room.

Logitech also designed the Bluetooth Illuminated Keyboard K810 with real brushed aluminum so that it would match any modern PC, tablet or smartphone.

"It's increasingly common for people to use more than one device over the course of the day, and we saw an opportunity to help ease the transition among screens with the Logitech Bluetooth Illuminated Keyboard," said Mike Culver, vice president of brand development for consumer computing platforms at Logitech. "Using Logitech's heritage of high quality and reliability, this keyboard combines the funtionality and design people expect with simultaneous multi-device pairing, which they will appreciate."

The Logitech Bluetooth Illuminated Keyboard K810 will be released in the U.S. in October and Europe in November for $99.99 USD.
