The connection to Xbox Live requires high-speed access, so you can't use a dialup Internet connection with the Xbox 360. If you want a high-speed connection, call your cable or phone company to discuss your options.

Connect your Xbox 360 to your home computer network one of two ways:
Ethernet: Connect the Xbox 360 directly to your network through the Ethernet port in the back of the console. The Xbox 360 is usually connected either through a router or directly to a cable modem.
Wireless: Requires either the Xbox 360 wireless adapter or a wireless Ethernet adapter from a hardware vendor. Network configuration is automatic on the Xbox 360. When you plug into the wired network, the Xbox 360 determines the proper connections automatically. For a wireless connection, you may need to enter a key code when you connect to the network
