Hello fellow forumites,
I need your help please because I have an issue that's confuzing the shiiiiz out of me. My media PC is randomly not outputting any audio.
Background:
In my lounge is my media PC, it's a core I3 with 8G Ram. Video (and audio) all goes via HDMI to my Amp from the GFX Card, and ATI Radeon HD5670. Mobo is a Gigabyte GA-B75M-D3H. The amp sends video to the TV. I also have the vga cable connected from the GFX card directly to the TV (in case of issues like this) and have all the settings on to clone the vga and HDMI displays. It's all worked perfectly.
Randomly, last weekend, I got home, whipped on the PC(which was working perfect the day before as always) to find that the GFX card could not detect any HDMI cable plugged into it. Obviously this could be a few things, BUT, I also have the analogue audio cable plugged into the amp from the rear of the PC and that didnt output any sound either. Checked all settings and it couldn't determine any output devices for sound (ie, with headphones plugged in, and with the HDMI cable, fokol).
Being a nerd I did the crazy driver uninstall / removal and re-install after taking off the GFX card, cleaning and re-seating it. All no change. The mobo also has a VGA and HDMI output. So I tried with the GFX card removed and all the mobo's onboard drivers installed, only to get exactly the same issue! Super weird!
I checked the bios settings, no video / sound things are disabled.
I tested from my GF's laptop (via HDMI) direct into the amp and it worked perfectly (with the same cable Iw as using for the media PC). So the amp / TV are fine. The cable is fine.
Final resort, format and re-install. This I did, and re-downloaded 1G worth of updates and software (probably more). It worked perfectly and subsequently has been working perfectly for a few days. Until yesterday, I get home, whip on the PC and get exactly the same issue as before. I tried doing a system restore but that also didnt change anything.
This is driving me nuts! Does anyone have ANY ideas of things I can take a look at to see what the issue is? Google is not helping me here...
