Are you running Vista or Windows XP?
Are you using multiple Outlook profiles?
Have you compacted the mail file?
Try running Outlook in safe mode:
Click start, run, and type > Outlook /safe
Disable all add-ins.
This usually happens when Outlook is closed but the process is till running in the background. Try leaving Outlook open when you shutdown or restart the computer. Upon reboot check if the problem is still there.
Hi, i have just tried to open outlook in safe mode and it still wont open. Any other suggestions?
It won't open? Are you getting an error?
Did you notice the space between Outlook and /safe
Go to c:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office12 and double-click the Scanpst.exe file to open the program.
Click Browse to locate the .pst file >
C:\Documents and Settings\username\Local Settings\Application Data\Microsoft\Outlook
Click Start. The Inbox Repair Tool scans the file and reports whether it found any errors. Click OK when done.
yes, I saw the space, when I put it in, it opens outlook for a few seconds with the same error "A data file did not close properly the last time..." then when I try open it again a box apears with a message saying "Outlook failed to launch in safe mode. Would you like to detect and repair?" I clicked yes, it says "Please wait while windows configures Microsoft Office Professional Hybrid 2007" then completes, press ok and nothing.
I have done the scanpst thing till im blue in the face, it comes up with error about every second try with the outlook pst file. I repair, but still doesnt fix the issue.
