  I'm looking at buying some more RAM (Currently have a 512 DDR2 stick and 1 GB DDR2 stick) for my PC, however I have no idea what levels of RAM (DDR, DDR2, DDR3) my mobo can handle.
  
  I've attached some screens from CPUZ if anyone could make something from them, would be much appreciated. (Not clued up at all on RAM at the moment.)

  Seriously though. I googled, didn't come up with anything decent.
  
  Then I went to HP (UK) to look for the motherboard manual in PDF - utterly useless.
  
  I haven't had time to try HP (US).

  I will have to search for the motherboard manual, it's somewhere amongst my hardware stuff. Thanks for trying, though.

  If your PC has DDR2 RAM in at the moment, it most likely can't handle DDR3 RAM, your best bet would be to buy DDR2 800 RAM. If the mother board can only handle DDR2 667, it's fine, it will slow the RAM down to 667.
  
  And in any case DDR2 800 is probably the cheapest RAM on the market atm

  Thanks for the help, Banlam. Maybe I need to look at getting a decent motherboard + tower upgrade as Siver said... Then again, when I do upgrade I could always move it over. Hmmmmm....

  Pretty much as Banlam said - also, 4GB is the maximum you'll be able to use with a 32bit operating system (well, 3.5 something or other to be relatively precise ;) )

  That 3.5 will also only be valid if you have told Windows about them. There is actually a 3G switch that you need to apply in order for your windows to know that it has more ram. Here is a good article on this matter.

  If you read the article you will see that the /3GB switch only increases the amount of memory that is assigned to user processes and likewise decreases the amount of memory available to system processes. If you have 4GB of RAM you have maxed out the ability of the 32 bit architecture. It doesn't matter what your operating system is - if it is 32bit, it can _only_ address 4GB of RAM. Windows sometimes only shows 3.5GB of RAM, this is a limitation of Vista, if I remember correctly, and is, of itself, only a visual cue as the operating system is still addressing all 4GB (the system properties show 3.5GB I think).
  
  To my knowledge there is no switch that is required for the system to use the memory, although you may need to tweak your system so that it displays 4GB (instead of 3.5GB). The link provided above is primarily for servers that may require additional address space (such as db servers) over system processes.
