=)
Ok, will do... I have 1 more exam left (IT theory on Friday) so I'll probably do it sometime over the weekend =)
Problem is that the current image is not standard banner size (468x60) , it is actually 520x100 pixels and 746.24 KB in size.

MaTiCa, I think you need to twiddle it a bit to make various sizes for the various uses.
At least a squished 468 x 60 for the moment being. Of course, instead of just squishing it, you could alter by resizing the content and moving it to one side so that you can include some of the text Christo suggested earlier, or make a two frame .GIF with the text in one frame (over a faded logo).
Also, apply .GIF optimisation to keep the image size down. I *know* this dithers the image.... but there are other things to consider, like being able to use the 468x60 for banner exchange programs - and they want the images to be SMALL in filesize.
Maybe make an animated .PNG. I was quite amazed by how much optimisation I could apply to a .PNG using Paint Shop Pro and still retain the quality. Of course, people with crummy browsers might only be able to see the first frame of the animation....
Hmm, will take a look at it over the weekend =)
I do however prefer to stay away from animation nowadays (size and editing is a bit of a bee with an itch...) -> I think I did that image when I was still learning about photoshop and had just discovered animation =P
Perhaps something similar to my previous post (no animation) might be nice in a cleaner form? i.e. designed for the correct size and incorporating the text that Christo suggested... Thoughts?
Will post what I mean over the weekend =)
It doesn't *have* to be animated.
But an animated image can convey a lot more information within the same dimensions than a static image - I particularly like the previous PCD ambulance animation. It perfectly conveys the purpose of the site. I'd really like to duplicate that animation, updating it to look a bit more 'modern'
Without wanting to be critical of MaTiCa's work, the current animation is... meaningless. With that in mind, I'd agree with you that the site logo in its current form would be better as a static image. In fact, as it currently stands, its just a showpiece for a particular graphical effect, and gives the site an amateurish look (sorry MaT!)
Still, I think MaT will have more time to attend to this when he's done with his current bout of exams.
Also a small thing to considder is the fading to grey at the bottom of the pic so the corners don't stand out like the do now.
So a "Hospital Cross" over a PC screen doesn't convey the site's purpose?
Ouch! Thanks...
Bear in mind, I created that logo in February and just to let you know, I am always improving... So forgive me if I used that logo as "a showpiece for a particular graphical effect" as you put it...
Yes, I am sure I'll have more time after the current exams... But I highly doubt I will have the inclination any more...
