I use both... depends on where I am. WiFi works great, let's me be able to move around without having to stay close to a router. The speeds aren't bad on a G... my friend as an Extreme G and I love that thing. Now there is N... so you get plenty speed and range out of those. Wires are sometimes nicer because you don't have to worry about things like network keys! And it's faster to connect. I do like to use a cabled connection when transferring bigger files, it's more reliable and speedy.

I use Wifi for my laptops and cable for my desktops. Works great, however speeds on the desktops are far better for copying, etc.
Most games work fine over the wifi. So far.

I'd love to get 802.11n, because my upstairs bedroom has an iffy signal.
But I'm using a telkom 'free-with-contract' wifi router atm. Might take them a while to use 802.11n
